Plano West Varsity Wolves Fall To Rock Hill Varsity Blue Hawks After Surrendering Big Fifth Inning
Rock Hill Varsity Blue Hawks defeated Plano West Varsity Wolves 7-1 on Friday thanks in part to five runs in the fifth inning.
Rock Hill Varsity Blue Hawks got on the board in the top of the fifth inning after Tisha Singh singled, scoring one run, Ali Sanchez doubled, scoring two runs, Madelyn Kerrigan doubled, scoring one run, and Mackenzie Ayyob singled, scoring one run.
Madilynn Grossman earned the win for Rock Hill Varsity Blue Hawks. The starter allowed six hits and one run over seven innings, striking out six and walking two. Abby Cuellar took the loss for Plano West Varsity Wolves. The starting pitcher went four and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs on seven hits, striking out two and walking three.
Kendall Prowell set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Plano West Varsity Wolves with three hits in four at bats. Lola Brown led the team with one run batted in.
Rock Hill Varsity Blue Hawks piled up 12 hits in the game. Kerrigan, Sanchez, Ayyob, and Grossman each collected two hits for Rock Hill Varsity Blue Hawks. Kerrigan and Sanchez were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for Rock Hill Varsity Blue Hawks. Grossman stole two bases. Rock Hill Varsity Blue Hawks didn't commit a single error in the field. Tatum Kemp had the most chances in the field with seven.
Plano West Varsity Wolves will travel to Plano Varsity Wildcats for their next game on Tuesday.
