Plano West Varsity Wolves Surge Past McKinney Varsity Lions Thanks To Big Third Inning

Plano West Varsity Wolves defeated McKinney Varsity Lions 19-2 on Thursday thanks in part to 15 runs in the third inning.  Kendall Prowell drew a walk, scoring one run, Abby Jennings singled, scoring one run, Brooke  Reasoner singled, scoring one run, Beetle Nell doubled, scoring three runs, Lola Brown singled, scoring one run, Amber Carrillo singled, scoring one run, Aderes Villela singled, scoring one run, Abby Cuellar singled, scoring one run, Prowell doubled, scoring two runs, Jennings tripled, scoring one run, and Reasoner homered to left field, scoring two runs.

 

Plano West Varsity Wolves were the first to get on the board in the first when Brown singled, scoring one run.

 

Plano West Varsity Wolves added to their early lead in the top of the second inning when an error scored two runs, and Nell hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.

 

Prowell earned the win for Plano West Varsity Wolves. The starter surrendered five hits and two runs (one earned) over three innings, striking out six and walking none. Emily Beam took the loss for McKinney Varsity Lions. The hurler went three innings, surrendering 11 runs (nine earned) on 10 hits, striking out one and walking four.

 

Plano West Varsity Wolves accumulated 16 hits in the game. Nell, Prowell, Carrillo, Reasoner, Jennings, Cuellar, Brown, and Villela each collected two hits for Plano West Varsity Wolves. Prowell led Plano West Varsity Wolves with five runs batted in. The pitcher went 2-for-3 on the day. Cuellar led Plano West Varsity Wolves with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying five walks for the game.

 

Elliott Pappas went 2-for-2 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in.

 

Plano West Varsity Wolves welcome Allen Varsity Eagles on Tuesday for their next game.
