Plano West Varsity Wolves Surge Past Princeton Thanks To Big Fifth Inning

 

Plano West Varsity Wolves scored six runs in the fifth inning, which helped them defeat Princeton 11-1 on Friday.  Andrea Carrillo singled, scoring one run, Sara Guiou singled, scoring two runs, Allyanna Martin singled, scoring one run, and Kaaya Mehta singled, scoring two runs.

 

Princeton got on the board in the first inning after Daeshana Wilson singled, scoring one run.

 

Elyse Mikes hit a sacrifice fly, which helped Plano West Varsity Wolves tie the game at one in the bottom of the first.

 

Plano West Varsity Wolves captured the lead, 5-1, in the bottom of the second when Carrillo hit a solo home run to left field, Sayli Padole singled, scoring two runs, and Mehta hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.

 

Marlee Flanigan earned the win for Plano West Varsity Wolves. The starting pitcher allowed two hits and one run (zero earned) over three innings, striking out two and walking none. Dahlia Gutierrez took the loss for Princeton. The starting pitcher went four and two-thirds innings, allowing 11 runs (10 earned) on 13 hits, striking out none and walking five. Abby Cuellar threw two innings of shutout ball for Plano West Varsity Wolves in relief. The pitcher allowed zero hits, striking out three and walking none.

 

Plano West Varsity Wolves accumulated 13 hits in the game. Mehta provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Plano West Varsity Wolves with three runs batted in. The infielder went 3-for-3 on the day. Mehta and Isabella Dunn each collected three hits for Plano West Varsity Wolves. Carrillo collected two hits for Plano West Varsity Wolves in two at bats. Plano West Varsity Wolves had a strong eye at the plate, piling up five walks for the game.

 

Wilson led Princeton with one run batted in. The first baseman went 1-for-2 on the day. Maddie Anguiano and Wilson each collected one hit for Princeton. Princeton turned one double play in the game.

 

Plano West Varsity Wolves will travel to Prosper for their next game on Thursday.
