Plano West Varsity Wolves Fall to Flower Mound Varsity Jaguars in Two-Game Playoff Series

Plano West Varsity Wolves faced Flower Mound Varsity Jaguars in a two-game playoff matchup on Friday, April 24, battling through both contests against a strong Jaguar lineup.

Game 1

Plano West Varsity Wolves Fall After Strong Showing By Flower Mound Varsity Jaguar

Plano West Varsity Wolves had trouble keeping up with Flower Mound Varsity Jaguar in a 13-0 loss.

 

Flower Mound Varsity Jaguar opened the scoring in the first after Avery Brock hit a grand slam to left field.

 

A solo home run to left field by Masy Mays, a single by Adi Bicknell, and a ground out by Brock helped Flower Mound Varsity Jaguar extend their early lead in the second.

 

Flower Mound Varsity Jaguar scored five runs on three hits in the top of the fifth inning. Macy Seidel hit a solo home run to left field, and Bella Flores hit a grand slam to left field.

 

Flores earned the win for Flower Mound Varsity Jaguar. The pitcher surrendered one hit and zero runs over five innings, striking out 11 and walking four. Emma Kesler pitched four innings in relief for Plano West Varsity Wolves. The hurler allowed seven hits and nine runs while striking out one and walking seven. Kendall Prowell took the loss for Plano West Varsity Wolves. The starter went one inning, allowing four runs (three earned) on one hit, striking out none and walking two.

 

Brooke Reasoner led Plano West Varsity Wolves with one hit in two at bats.

 

Brock drove the middle of the lineup, leading Flower Mound Varsity Jaguar with five runs batted in. The third baseman went 1-for-3 on the day. Bicknell led Flower Mound Varsity Jaguar with two hits in two at bats. Flower Mound Varsity Jaguar had a strong eye at the plate, amassing nine walks for the game. Flores, Olivia Rains, and Bicknell led the team with two free passes each.

 

Game 2

Third-Inning Burst Enough To Lead Flower Mound Varsity Jaguar Past Plano West Varsity Wolves

Flower Mound Varsity Jaguar defeated Plano West Varsity Wolves 10-3 thanks in part to six runs in the third inning.

 

Flower Mound Varsity Jaguar opened the scoring in the first after Bella Flores hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.

 

Flower Mound Varsity Jaguar scored six runs on three hits in the bottom of the third inning. Avery Brock drew a walk, scoring one run, Julisa Balderas singled, scoring one run, Hayden Miller singled, scoring one run, and Macy Seidel tripled, scoring three runs.

 

Audra Kruk earned the win for Flower Mound Varsity Jaguar. The pitcher gave up six hits and three runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out four and walking two. Kendall Prowell pitched four innings in relief for Plano West Varsity Wolves. The reliever allowed six hits and six runs while striking out four and walking four. Abby Cuellar took the loss for Plano West Varsity Wolves. The hurler went two innings, surrendering four runs on one hit, striking out two and walking five.

 

Beetle Nell, Amber Carrillo, Brooke Reasoner, Abby Jennings, Cuellar, and Zoe Spicer each collected one hit for Plano West Varsity Wolves. Nell and Cuellar each drove in one run for Plano West Varsity Wolves.

 

Miller and Balderas were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Flower Mound Varsity Jaguar while hitting back-to-back. Balderas went 2-for-4 at the plate and led the team with four runs batted in. Nahla Hurst paced Flower Mound Varsity Jaguar with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying nine walks for the game. Adi Bicknell and Hurst each stole multiple bases for Flower Mound Varsity Jaguar. Flower Mound Varsity Jaguar stole seven bases in the game and turned one double play.
