Plano West Junior Varsity Wolves Battle McKinney Boyd to 7-7 Tie
Layney Conner drove in five runs to lead Plano West Junior Varsity Wolves in a hard-fought 7-7 tie against McKinney Boyd on Saturday.
McKinney Boyd struck first in the opening inning with a steal of home to take a 1-0 lead.
Plano West responded in the second inning when Ashley Tolly drew a walk and Conner drove in a run, giving the Wolves a 2-1 lead.
McKinney Boyd answered in the bottom of the second on a wild pitch to even the score at 2-2.
Plano West broke through in the top of the third inning. Brynley Reeves, Kayla Johnson, and Ashley Tolly each drove in a run, while Conner’s at-bat brought in four additional runs as the Wolves capitalized on defensive miscues.
McKinney Boyd battled back late, stringing together timely hits and aggressive baserunning to tie the game at 7-7.
Ava Fuquay appeared in relief for Plano West Junior Varsity Wolves.
Plano West totaled 15 hits in the game. Zoe Spicer led the Wolves, going 3-for-3 at the plate. Reeves, Chloe Chidziva, Hatfield, and Johnson each recorded multiple hits. Reeves also stole two bases as Plano West collected five stolen bases overall.
McKinney Boyd was led by #8, who drove in two runs while going 2-for-2. #10, #8, and #1 each collected two hits, and the team matched Plano West with five stolen bases.
Plano West Junior Varsity Wolves will host Plano East on Tuesday for their next game.
