Layney Conner's Strong Eye Leads Plano West Junior Varsity Wolves Past Princeton
Layney Conner showed a strong eye at the plate on Friday, as Conner walked three times while leading Plano West Junior Varsity Wolves to a 12-2 victory over Princeton.
Plano West Junior Varsity Wolves got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Ivana Farias walked, and Farias stole home, each scoring one run.
Four more Plano West Junior Varsity Wolves runs crossed the plate in the second inning to extend the lead to 8-0. Ashley Tolly drew a walk, scoring one run, Conner singled, scoring two runs, and Ava Fuquay homered, scoring three runs.
Plano West Junior Varsity Wolves added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Kate Hatfield doubled, Kayla Johnson singled, Penny Peterson walked, and Conner walked, each scoring one run.
Fuquay started the game for Plano West Junior Varsity Wolves. The righty surrendered zero hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out six and walking three. Sydney Turano appeared in relief for Plano West Junior Varsity Wolves.
Fuquay provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Plano West Junior Varsity Wolves with three runs batted in. The number three hitter went 1-for-3 on the day.
