Plano West Varsity Wolves Takes The Lead Late And Defeats Plano East

Plano West Varsity Wolves beat Plano East 6-5 on Tuesday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at five in the top of the ninth when Amber Carrillo hit a solo home run to center field.
Plano West Varsity Wolves built a 4-run lead in the third inning and then held off Plano East's charge. Plano East closed the gap by scoring on a single, a walk, a sacrifice fly, and a single.
Plano West Varsity Wolves jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Abby Cuellar doubled, scoring one run, and Brooke Reasoner homered to right field, scoring two runs.
Plano West Varsity Wolves added one run in the third after Elyse Mikes grounded out.
Plano East flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, scoring five runs on four hits to take the lead, 5-4. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Hopper that drove in two.
Mikes doubled down the left field line, which helped Plano West Varsity Wolves tie the game at five in the top of the seventh.
Marlee Flanigan earned the win for Plano West Varsity Wolves. The starter surrendered 10 hits and five runs over nine innings, striking out four and walking six. Hopper took the loss for Plano East. The pitcher went six innings, surrendering two runs on eight hits, striking out one and walking none. Dawson stepped in the circle first for Plano East. The starter gave up four hits and four runs over three innings, striking out three and walking none.
Plano West Varsity Wolves collected 12 hits in the game. Carrillo, Mikes, Isabella Dunn, and Andrea Carrillo each collected two hits for Plano West Varsity Wolves. Reasoner and Mikes each drove in two runs for Plano West Varsity Wolves. Plano West Varsity Wolves were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Kaaya Mehta had the most chances in the field with seven.
Plano East piled up 10 hits in the game. Hopper led Plano East with two runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. Hopper went 1-for-5 on the day. Grant and Lee each collected two hits for Plano East. Dawson paced Plano East with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying six walks for the game. Plano East didn't commit a single error in the field. Dawson had the most chances in the field with four.
Plano West Varsity Wolves play at home on Friday against Rock Hill in their next game.
