Plano West Varsity Wolves Lose To Plano

 

Plano West Varsity Wolves lost to Plano 13-8 on Tuesday.

 

Plano got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Cadence Charland singled to center field, Darby DeJean doubled down the right field line, and Veida Vega grounded into a fielder's choice, each scoring one run.

 

In the top of the second inning, Plano West Varsity Wolves went back into the lead after Kaaya Mehta homered to left field, and Abby Jennings doubled to center field, each scoring two runs.

 

Plano flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the second, scoring six runs on four hits to take the lead, 9-4. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to center field by Charland that drove in two.

 

Addison Pecenka homered to left field, scoring two runs in the bottom of the fifth for the Plano.

 

Caroline Evans earned the win for Plano. The pitcher gave up seven hits and six runs (five earned) over three innings, striking out none and walking three. Abby Cuellar pitched four innings in relief for Plano West Varsity Wolves. The hurler gave up six hits and four runs while, striking out none and walking two. Marlee Flanigan took the loss for Plano West Varsity Wolves. The starting pitcher went two innings, allowing nine runs (eight earned) on seven hits, striking out two and walking one.

 

Number nine hitter, Beetle Nell, showed the depth of Plano West Varsity Wolves's lineup, by leading them with two hits in four at bats.

 

Plano tallied 13 hits in the game. Charland provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Plano with four runs batted in. The number three hitter went 3-for-4 on the day. Charland, Aubrey Zhang, and DeJean each collected three hits for Plano. Rylee Benkowitz collected two hits for Plano in four at bats. Plano turned one double play in the game.

 

Next up for Plano West Varsity Wolves is a game against McKinney on Friday.
