Plano West Varsity Wolves Defeats Prosper On Back Of Clutch Display From Andrea Carrillo

 

Andrea Carrillo drove in four runs on two hits to lead Plano West Varsity Wolves past Prosper 9-4 on Thursday. In the third inning, Carrillo hit a grand slam to center field.

 

Prosper opened the scoring in the second after Marlee Flanigan induced Layla Pourciau to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored.

 

Plano West Varsity Wolves flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the third, scoring five runs on three hits to take the lead, 5-1. The biggest blow in the inning was a grand slam to center field by Carrillo that drove in four.

 

Brooke  Reasoner homered to right field, scoring two runs in the bottom of the fourth for the Plano West Varsity Wolves.

 

Flanigan earned the win for Plano West Varsity Wolves. The pitcher surrendered eight hits and four runs (three earned) over seven innings, striking out one and walking three. Sam Riley took the loss for Prosper. The hurler went two and one-third innings, giving up five runs on three hits, striking out four and walking five.

 

Abby Cuellar led Plano West Varsity Wolves with three hits in three at bats. Reasoner led Plano West Varsity Wolves with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing seven walks for the game. Plano West Varsity Wolves turned two double plays in the game.

 

T Spain drove the middle of the lineup, leading Prosper with two runs batted in. The outfielder went 3-for-3 on the day.

 

Plano West Varsity Wolves play at home on Saturday against McKinney Boyd in their next game.
