First-Inning Spurt Lead Plano West Varsity Wolves Past Plano East

Plano West Varsity Wolves defeated Plano East 8-0 on Monday thanks in part to six runs in the first inning. Brooke Reasoner doubled, scoring one run, Elyse Mikes homered to center field, scoring three runs, and Abby Cuellar singled, scoring two runs.

 

Plano West Varsity Wolves added two runs in the second. Whitney Flanigan singled down the left field line on the eighth pitch of the at-bat, making the score 8-0.

 

Marlee Flanigan earned the win for Plano West Varsity Wolves. The hurler gave up one hit and zero runs over seven innings, striking out two and walking two. Dawson took the loss for Plano East. The starting pitcher went six innings, giving up eight runs (seven earned) on seven hits, striking out eight and walking five.

 

Mikes provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Plano West Varsity Wolves with three runs batted in. The center fielder went 2-for-4 on the day. Mikes and Cuellar each collected two hits for Plano West Varsity Wolves. Plano West Varsity Wolves had patience at the plate, amassing five walks for the game. Plano West Varsity Wolves turned one double play in the game.

 

Martin led Plano East with one hit in three at bats.
