Late Score Costs Plano West Varsity Wolves Against McKinney Boyd Varsity Softball

 

Plano West Varsity Wolves stayed in it until the end, but McKinney Boyd Varsity Softball pulled away late in a 6-5 victory on Saturday. The game was tied at five in the top of the seventh when Beckham Manley singled, scoring one run.

 

McKinney Boyd Varsity Softball got on the board in the first inning after Manley tripled, scoring two runs.

 

A triple by Isabella Dunn gave Plano West Varsity Wolves the lead, 3-2, in the bottom of the fifth.

 

McKinney Boyd Varsity Softball captured the lead, 6-5, in the top of the seventh after Madison Treadwell scored after tagging up, Plano West Varsity Wolves committed an error, Olivia Locke singled down the left field line, and Manley singled to center field, each scoring one run.

 

Marlee Flanigan opened the game for Plano West Varsity Wolves. The starter gave up seven hits and six runs (two earned) over seven innings, striking out four and walking two. Sophia Vlahos started in the circle for McKinney Boyd Varsity Softball. The starting pitcher allowed six hits and five runs over five and one-third innings, striking out four and walking three.

 

Dunn went 1-for-4 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Plano West Varsity Wolves's Amber Carrillo, the number seven hitter, led Plano West Varsity Wolves with two hits in three at bats.

 

Manley drove the middle of the lineup, leading McKinney Boyd Varsity Softball with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Locke led McKinney Boyd Varsity Softball with three hits in three at bats. McKinney Boyd Varsity Softball didn't commit a single error in the field. Treadwell had the most chances in the field with seven.

 

Plano West Varsity Wolves will travel to Plano East for their next game on Tuesday.
