Lady Wolves Defeat Mustangs 13-7 in Season Opener

Abby Cuellar drove in four runs on three hits to lead Plano West Varsity Wolves past McKinney Boyd Varsity Softball 13-7 on Tuesday. Cuellar doubled in the second inning, scoring two runs, and doubled in the fifth inning, scoring two.
 
A double by Kaaya Mehta on the sixth pitch of the at-bat put Plano West Varsity Wolves on the board in the top of the first.
 
McKinney Boyd Varsity Softball took the lead, 3-2, in the bottom of the first thanks to singles by Leah Teague, and Sophia Vlahos.
 
Plano West Varsity Wolves flipped the game on its head in the top of the second, scoring six runs on four hits to take the lead, 8-3. The biggest blow in the inning was a line out by Brooke Reasoner that drove in three.
 
Marlee Flanigan earned the win for Plano West Varsity Wolves. The hurler surrendered eight hits and seven runs (three earned) over seven innings, striking out one and walking one. Madison Treadwell stepped in the circle first for McKinney Boyd Varsity Softball. The hurler gave up seven hits and seven runs (six earned) over one inning, striking out none and walking none.
 
Plano West Varsity Wolves collected 15 hits in the game. Isabella Dunn and Cuellar were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for Plano West Varsity Wolves. Amelia Nell and Elyse Mikes each collected multiple hits for Plano West Varsity Wolves.
 
Vlahos and Teague each collected two hits for McKinney Boyd Varsity Softball. Vlahos and Teague each drove in three runs for McKinney Boyd Varsity Softball. McKinney Boyd Varsity Softball turned two double plays in the game.
 
Next up for Plano West Varsity Wolves is a game at Elgin on Thursday.
