Plano West Varsity Wolves Win In Fashion, Walk It Off Versus Plano

It came down to the wire on Tuesday, as Plano West Varsity Wolves grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 17-16, over Plano. The game was tied at 16 in the bottom of the seventh when Caroline Evans induced Amber Carrillo to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored.
 
Brooke Reasoner drove in four runners in the win. The catcher went 3-3 on the day.
 
Plano were the first to get on the board in the second when Addison Pecenka homered to left field, scoring three runs.
 
Plano West Varsity Wolves captured the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the second after Reasoner homered to right field, Beetle Nell doubled to center field, Kendall Prowell grounded into a double play, and Isabella Dunn singled to center field, each scoring one run.
 
Plano captured the lead, 5-4, in the top of the third after Aubrey Zhang doubled to center field, and Cadence Charland singled to center field, each scoring one run.
 
Plano West Varsity Wolves flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the third, scoring six runs on five hits to take the lead, 10-5. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to center field by Elyse Mikes that drove in three.
 
Plano flipped the game on its head in the top of the fifth, scoring six runs on seven hits to take the lead, 11-10. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to center field by Payton Poole that drove in three.
 
Plano West Varsity Wolves took the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning after Abby Cuellar homered to center field, and Mikes doubled down the left field line, each scoring one run.
 
Plano flipped the game on its head in the top of the sixth, scoring five runs on four hits to take the lead, 16-12. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to left field by Darby DeJean following a 6-pitch at-bat that drove in three.
 
Plano West Varsity Wolves flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the seventh, scoring five runs on four hits to take the lead, 17-16. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Reasoner that drove in two.
 
Marlee Flanigan stepped in the circle first for Plano West Varsity Wolves. The starting pitcher allowed 16 hits and 11 runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking one. Charland started the game for Plano. The pitcher allowed nine hits and 10 runs (eight earned) over four innings, striking out two and walking five. Cuellar appeared in relief for Plano West Varsity Wolves.
 
Plano West Varsity Wolves piled up 15 hits in the game. Mikes went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Plano West Varsity Wolves in hits. Kaaya Mehta, Andrea Carrillo, and Cuellar each collected multiple hits for Plano West Varsity Wolves. Plano West Varsity Wolves had patience at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game. Reasoner and Carrillo led the team with two free passes each.
 
Plano accumulated 22 hits in the game. Charland and DeJean were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected four hits for Plano. Pecenka led Plano with four runs batted in. The third baseman went 2-for-4 on the day. Taylor Pitts, Rylee Benkowitz, Zhang, and Poole each collected multiple hits for Plano. Plano turned one double play in the game.
 
Plano West Varsity Wolves will travel to McKinney for their next game on Friday.
