Plano West Junior Varsity Wolves Hold Off McKinney Boyd For Victory

 

Plano West Junior Varsity Wolves got out to a 5-run lead in the second inning and held on for an 8-7 victory over McKinney Boyd on Saturday. McKinney Boyd closed the gap by scoring on a walk, a single, a hit by pitch, and a double.

 

McKinney Boyd got on the board in the first inning after #9 tripled, scoring three runs.

 

Plano West Junior Varsity Wolves jumped into the lead in the bottom of the first when Aderes Villela doubled, scoring two runs, Kate Hatfield drew a walk, scoring one run, and Sadie Kilmer was struck by a pitch, driving in a run.

 

Plano West Junior Varsity Wolves added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning when Zoe Spicer singled, scoring one run, Lola Brown singled, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run.

 

Emma Kesler earned the win for Plano West Junior Varsity Wolves. The pitcher surrendered one hit and three runs (zero earned) over three innings, striking out six and walking four. #4 took the loss for McKinney Boyd. The starting pitcher went one and two-thirds innings, giving up eight runs (six earned) on four hits, striking out one and walking six. Kayla Johnson collected the save.

 

Brown and Villela were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for Plano West Junior Varsity Wolves. Spicer led Plano West Junior Varsity Wolves with two hits in two at bats. Aubrie Bowden led Plano West Junior Varsity Wolves with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up six walks for the game. Plano West Junior Varsity Wolves turned one double play in the game.

 

#9 led McKinney Boyd with three runs batted in. The outfielder went 2-for-2 on the day. McKinney Boyd had patience at the plate, piling up seven walks for the game. #1 and #12 led the team with two bases on balls each. #9 and #8 each stole multiple bases for McKinney Boyd. McKinney Boyd stole five bases in the game.

 

Plano West Junior Varsity Wolves will travel to Plano East for their next game on Tuesday.
