Plano West won big over Coppell on Tuesday night in their district opener and Senior Night, celebrating their three seniors - Carra Cleaves, M.C. Pollacia, and Maya Florence. The hard hitting Wolves ended the game after four-and-a-half innings in a run-rule decision 12-1.

The bats were working early for Plano West. In the first inning, Sophomore Abby Jennings doubled, Junior Andrea Carrillo hit into a fielder's choice, and Senior Maya Florence singled, each scoring one run. The second inning brought more runs across the plate. Sophomore Abby Cuellar singled, scoring two runs, and Junior Kaaya Mehta homered to left field, scoring three. Coppell managed to hold West scoreless in the third, but the bats came right back in the bottom of the fourth with the Wolves driving in another four runs to cap off the run-rule finish when Coppell was unable to score in the top of the fifth. Fourth inning RBIs came from Junior Elyse Mikes' double and a Jennings single.

Cleaves earned the win for the Wolves. The starter allowed two hits and no runs over three innings, striking out two and walking one. Pollacia pitched two innings in relief, allowing one run on four hits and striking out one.

Plano West accumulated a total of 11 hits in the game. Jennings led the offense going three for three. The Wolves were patient at the plate, drawing five walks, and were flawless in the field with no errors.

Next up for the Wolves: Plano Senior High.
