Wolves Suffer First District Loss to Hebron

Plano West lost their first district game on Friday night 4-0 to a tough Hebron team. The Wolves were 5-0 going into the game. Hebron was 4-1 and on a mission to deal Plano West its first loss.
Senior Carra Cleaves pitched a complete game for the Wolves, giving up four runs and ten hits. She struck out four and walked none.
The West bats just never got to working. The Wolves managed only six hits over the game and drew only one walk. Hebron out two runs on the board in the second inning with a few well-timed singles. Plano West had two scoring opportunities, once in the third and the other in the fifth. In the third, the Wolves had runners on second and third with one out, but the Plano West offense couldn't push them across the plate. The Wolves rattled their bats again in the bottom of the fifth, loading up the bases with no outs. But the West batters were stifled by strong pitching and solid defense.
Bright spots in the game for West were Senior Maya Florence and Junior Izzy Dunn, who each got two hits for the Wolves. Dunn drew the only walk.
Plano West plays their last game of the first round of district play on Monday, on the road against Flower Mound.
