Izzy Dunn Hits Three as West Beats East

Junior Izzy Dunn collected three hits in four at-bats as Plano West defeated Plano East 6-4 on their home turf on Tuesday. Dunn doubled in the fifth and singled in each of the third and sixth innings, finishing 3 for 4 on the night.

An unfortunate error put East on the board first in the bottom of the first, but a fielder's choice RBI by Sophomore Abby Chunn tied the game. East went back on top again in the third by two runs. Thanks to RBI singles by Juniors Elyse Mikes and Andrea Carrillo, the Wolves took the lead back and kept it.

Senior M.C. Pollacia grabbed the win in the circle, surrendering three runs (one earned) on three hits over four innings, striking out six and walking one. Senior Carra Cleaves earned the save, entering the game in the fifth inning. The reliever gave up one run (unearned) on four hits, striking out three and walking none.

The Wolves collected 12 hits in the game. Carrillo went 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Mikes went 2 for 4 with one RBI. In the field, it wasn't the Wolves' strongest outing, committing five errors; but they managed the win anyway.

Plano West stands at 5-0 in district. They host Hebron on Friday along with Elementary School Night at West's home field. It looks to be a good game against a strong Hawks team.
