Mehta's Big Bat Propels Win for West Over Trenton

Junior Kaaya Mehta drove in six runs on three hits to lead the Wolves to 13-2 run-rule victory over Trenton on Thursday in their first game of the Allen tournament.
Plano West jumped out early with seven runs in the bottom of the first to start the game. Mehta singled, driving in Freshman Kendall Prowell and Junior Elyse Mikes. Sophomore Abby Chunn doubled to drive in Mehta. Junior Marlee Flanigan drove a double of her own to score Sophomore Abby Jennings. And Junior Izzt Dunn singled to send Junior Kim Wilson and Flanigan across the plate. The Wolves put another big inning on the board in the bottom of third with five runs, including a home run over the left field fence by Mehta to score three runs.
Flanigan started in the circle and earned the win for the Wolves, allowing only one hit and two runs (zero earned) over four innings, striking out seven and walking three. Senior M.C. Pollacia threw one inning of zero-run zero-hit ball, striking out one.
Plano West tallied a total of 14 hits, including multiple hits for Mehta, Chunn, Flanigan, Jennings, and Mikes.
