Wolves Best the Unicorns

Plano West bested the New Braunfels Unicorns 5-2 in their first tournament game of the day on Friday. New Braunfels struck first, but the Wolves came back early in the bottom of the first with Sophomore Abby Chunn singling to score two runs.

The Unicorns managed another run in the third to tie it up, but Plano West finished off the tournament game with the three runs in the fifth. Sophomore Abby Jennings broke up the tie with a two-run double and Junior Kaaya Mehta sent the final run across the plate with a single.

Senior Carra Cleaves started in the circle, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits over three innings. She struck out four and walked one. Senior MC Pollacia took the win in the fourth with four hits and no runs, striking out two. Sophomore Abby Cuellar led the team at the plate, going 3 for 3. On defense, the Wolves were flawless, committing no errors.
