Plano West Rolls Past Pieper Warriors

The Wolves won big over Pieper HS 9-2 on Thursday. Pieper struck first with a run in the first inning, but four runs in each of the third and fourth innings plus an extra for good measure in the fifth capped off the win for Plano West.

Plano West's first runs came from a 2-run single by Junior Andrea Carrillo. Sophomore Abby Chunn drove in another that inning with a sacrifice fly. Carrillo started the West engine again in the fourth with a 2-out hard ground ball that drove in Junior Elyse Mikes from her earlier single. Junior Sophia Nell knocked a hard ground ball of her own to drive in two that inning.

Senior M.C. Pollacia earned the win for the Wolves in the circle with six strike outs and one walk. Pieper was unable to manage any hits off of Pollacia in three innings. Junior Marlee Flanigan made an appearance in relief for the Wolves.

On offense, the Wolves managed 13 hits in the game, including multiple hits from Carrillo, Mikes, and Sphomore Abby Cuellar. The Wolves also collected four stolen bases, including two from Sophomore Abby Jennings.
