Wolves Defeat Lubbock Coronado Mustangs

Despite allowing 3 runs in the first inning, Plano West managed to defeat the Coronado Mustangs in their last game of the Turf Wars Tournament.

Plano West opened up their own scoring in the first inning when Sophomore Elyse Mikes singled to score 2 runs. The Wolves pulled away for good with 2 runs in the second inning. Freshman Abby Jennings doubled on the first pitch of her at bat, scoring one run. Senior Brooke Hilton singled for the other RBI of the inning.

More runs were tallied in the fifth inning. Three more runs crossed the plate from doubles by Hilton, Jennings, and Senior Adayah Wallace.

Sophomore Marlee Flanigan earned the win for the Wolves from the circle. The hurler surrendered 4 runs, striking out 3 and walking 1. Junior MC Pollacia threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen. She recorded the last 2 outs for the save.

Plano West saw the ball well, racking up 13 hits in the game. Jennings, Hilton, Junior Carra Cleaves, Sophomore Izzy Dunn, and Freshman Abby Chunn each managed 2 hits to lead the Wolves offense.

The Wolves finished 4 and 1 in the Turf Wars Tournament. District play starts Tuesday against Coppell.
