Senior Brooke Hilton was an RBI machine on Friday, driving in four runs on three hits to lead the Wolves offense in a run-rule win over Coppell. In her first at bat, she blasted one over the centerfield fence for 3 of those RBIs to start the game. Sophomore Kaaya Mehta drove in a fourth run in the first inning with a line drive double to left field.
The Wolves put forth another big offensive inning in the second. A single by Sophomore Izzy Dunn drove in Ally Martin. A single by Sophomore Elyse Mikes pushed across Senior Adayah Wallace. And Mehta grabbed another RBI with a sac fly to center field.
And the offense didn't end there. After holding Coppell to a third scoreless inning, the Wolves bats got cracking again. RBIs were credited to Dunn and Hilton in an inning that saw 4 more hits. Mehta drove in the final run to complete the run-rule win in the fifth with a sac fly to center field.
Plano West pitching was impressive as well. Sophomore Marlee Flanigan started in the circle for the Wolves. She pitched four innings and gave up only two hits, striking out two and walking one. Junior M.C. Pollacia pitched one inning in relief, throwing only eight pitches and striking out one.
With the Wolves win, they stand atop the district in first place. Their next game is at Plano Senior on Tuesday.
