Mehta With 5 RBIs to Seal West Victory Over East

Sophomore Kaaya Mehta wasted no opportunities at the plate on Friday night, driving in five runs on two hits to lead Plano West past Plano East 12-4 in their first head-to-head match up of the season. Mehta drove in runs on a grand slam in the second and a double in the third.

Junior Carra Cleaves pitched the Wolves to victory. The hurler went six innings, giving up three earned runs on six hits and striking out seven. Sophomore Marlee Flanigan threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen, striking out one of her own.

Plano West tallied up a total of 12 hits for the night. Senior Adayah Wallace, Sophomores Mehta and Izzy Dunn, and Freshman Abby Chunn led at the plate with two runs each. But it was Mehta's grand slam and double that led them team for the night. The Wolves are now 4-1 in district play.
