Plano West nabbed the lead late in the game in a 3-1 victory over the Lewisville Fighting Farmers on Thursday night in an away game. The game was a pitcher's duel with West pitchers striking out four and Lewisville pitchers striking out eight.

Lewisville opened the game with a lead-off homer, but West starter Marlee Flanigan locked it down after that. The Farmers never scored again. The Wolves knotted the game up at one in the top of the third inning with Senior Adayah Wallace driving in Freshman Abby Cuellar on a sacrifice bunt. The game stayed tied into the sixth when Junior Carra Cleaves grounded out, pushing Sophomore Elyse Mikes across the plate. In the same innings, Sophomore Ally Martin singled for the final RBI of the game, driving in Sophomore Kaaya Mehta.

Flanigan posted a strong outing as the starter, surrendering one run on four hits over four and two-thirds innings. Junior MC Pollacia threw two and a third innings out of the bullpen and was credited with the win. She gave up only two hits.

Cuellar led the Wolves on both offense and defense. She went 2 for 3 at the plate. And while Plano West was flawless in the field once again, Cuellar had the most chances in the field with seven.

Plano West sits alone in first in the district with Flower Mound a game behind. The next game for West is at home on Tuesday against Marcus.
