Both Plano West and Flower Mound were strong in the pitcher's circle on Saturday, but Plano West defeated Flower Mound 3-1 to take sole possession of the district championship. Plano West pitchers held Flower Mound to just five hits to win the game.

The Wolves got off to a quick offensive start and put numbers on the board in the first inning with a single by Sophomore Izzy Dunn to drive in Senior Adayah Wallace. Senior Brooke Hilton drove in Dunn for a second run on a line drive single to left field. Flower Mound put a run of their own on the board in the bottom of the first, but Junior pitcher Carra Cleaves and the defense shut Flower Mound down for the rest of the game.

Cleaves was the winning pitcher for the Wolves. She lasted five innings, allowing only four hits and striking out six. She pitched her way out of two jams, one with bases loaded in the fourth that she ended with a strikeout; and another in the fifth with runners on second and third when she racked up a strikeout for the second out and induced a fly ball for the third out to end the inning. Junior MC Pollacia put up another strong two innings in relief giving up only one hit for the save.

Plano West put up a total of six hits. Hilton led the offense going 2 for 3 at the plate.

The Wolves' win gives them sole possession of first place and this year's district championship. They begin playoffs next week when they will take on the Prosper Eagles.
