Walk-Off Seals Win for Forney

It came down to the last play, but Plano West was on the wrong end of a 6-5 defeat to Forney on Tuesday night. Forney trailed 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh inning when their batter homered on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs. The Wolves lost despite out-hitting Forney seven to six.


Plano West got on the board in the first inning. An error scored the run. The Wolves then put two more runs on the board in the fourth and another in the fifth. The run in the fifth was an over the fence rocket hit by Junior Brooke Hilton. Sophomore Carra Cleaves held Forney scoreless in the first five innings, striking out five. Reliever Freshman Marlee Flanigan entered the game in the sixth. Plano West committed three errors that inning, allowing Forney to tie the game at 4-4.


Plano West retook the lead in the top of the seventh with a home run launched by Freshman Elyse Mikes. But in the bottom of the seventh, with Cleaves back in the circle, Forney pulled off the win with a walk-off home run. Junior Adayah Wallace led the Wolves at the plate, going 2 for 4.
