Late Score Costs Plano West Against Coppell

Wednesday's game against district leader Coppell on Wednesday night was a heartbreaker. The game was a pitching duel deep into the game between Sophomore Carra Cleaves and Coppell's starting pitcher.

The Wolves jumped ahead in the top of the sixth, scoring two runs to take the lead over Coppell 3 to 2. One RBI came from Senior Jamie Cendana, who doubled to drive in courtesy runner Junior Madison Strayhorn, in for Senior catcher Catie Kim. The second RBI came from a sac bunt squeeze by Freshman Kaaya Mehta, sending Cendana sliding across the plate for the lead.

Coppell answered back in the bottom of the sixth. A double by Coppell tied the game at 3, and then a costly error in the field allowed Coppell two more runs. Plano West was unable to answer in the 7th.

Plano West falls to 3 and 5 in district play. Next up is an away game at Plano East.
